Alvas Matlay is a versatile, reversible dance floor covering, utilized with tape down application. This marley-type PVC vinyl flooring is ideal for ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip hop and many other forms of dance. It is also ideal for multi-purpose use such as gigs, performances aerobics and displays. Both sides of the Matlay have a matte finish and a surface texture that is not too fast and not too slow. The material is lightweight, which makes it especially helpful for touring and competitions. (Comparable to Rosco’s Dance Floor and Harlequin’s Reversible)
Cleaning and maintenance is simple- see FAQ for instructions.
When Matlay is used for dance, it is suitable for laying on a hard, smooth floor, but ideally paired (and recommended) with a sprung or floating subfloor.
Available in Light Gray/Black or White/Black
(Tape not included)
Rolls are Custom Cut to customer’s specifications, but lengths may be longer than requested. Customer will need to provide length and width dimensions of area to cover when calling.

All areas where Matlay is to be installed shall be clean of any and all foreign substances such as grease, oil and/or objects including carpeting, screws, nails, staples, etc. Nothing other than Alvas flooring tape is acceptable for securing the Matlay to the surface without prior clearance from Alvas’ personnel.
The surface should be shaded and kept out of direct sunlight as much as possible. Vinyl flooring cannot be installed nor used in direct sunlight. On an outdoor surface, because of “sun heat”, only the white floor may be used. The gray and black gets too hot in the sun.
